09/28/2004 Preliminary slip model
Jessica Murray

Preliminary fault slip distribution for 2004 Parkfield earthquake obtained using coseismic displacement vectors from continuous GPS station data available 29 September 2004 and methods described in Murray and Segall (2003 Nature). Coverage SE of the epicenter is currently sparse but will be augmented by survey mode GPS measurements now being carried out. Also shown are: 2004 hypocenter (star); NCSN aftershock locations (magenta); background seismicity (black symbols, 1985-2000 from Waldhauser et al., GRL, in press); and hypocenters of 1966 foreshock and mainshock (green circles). Source dimensions scaled for 3 MPa stress drop.
