Earthquake Shaking Map

The California Seismic Safety Commission, the California Geological Survey, the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, and the USGS recently collaborated to develop a new map of California Earthquake Shaking Potential. The multi-agency map was released at the 2003 meeting of Disaster Resistent California, held in San Jose April 21-23.

The map shows the relative intensity of ground shaking and damage in California from anticipated future earthquakes. Expected damages in California are projected to exceed $30 billion in the next 10 years.

The map is available from the California Seismic Safety Commission at 916-263-5506 or via the Web in either a jpg version or pdf version.
