January 23rd Media Workshop






On January 23, 2003, the Office of Emergency Services and the USGS hosted a workshop for members of the media in the San Francisco Bay Area to introduce the CISN and to increase awareness and promote use of ShakeMap among media organizations in coverage of significant earthquakes. The workshop featured presentations and facilitated discussion.

Email notification of earthquakes and ShakeMaps
Sign up for notification of earthquakes in California as well as notification that a ShakeMap has been generated.

As a follow-up to the workshop, the OES Information and Public Affairs staff plans to produce a short training video for use by news organizations in orienting their reporters and technical staff on the use of ShakeMap in covering earthquakes.
